Commerce-ready taxonomy
A consistent hierarchy clarified how learning resources related to subjects and grade levels.
Case study / Education publishing
A structured digital catalog helped an education publisher turn a sprawling product library into a coherent commerce experience.

01 / The problem
Abrams Learning Trends offered a broad range of Pre-K–5 teaching resources, but its product groupings had grown difficult to navigate and maintain. Bringing more than 1,200 items into commerce demanded a taxonomy that would survive migration intact.
02 / The solution
Pixeldust Interactive developed a reusable product hierarchy, migrated the catalog into Drupal Commerce, and built two custom Drupal modules to address the project's requirements. A Foundation-based responsive theme and Pantheon hosting supported the new storefront.
A consistent hierarchy clarified how learning resources related to subjects and grade levels.
The migration preserved the product taxonomy across more than 1,200 entries.
Custom modules, Foundation styling, and Pantheon hosting formed an extensible platform.
03 / Business value
The work addressed a real challenge for Abrams Learning Trends—improving the experience for customers, teams, or both.
Educators could explore resources through clearer groupings instead of navigating an inconsistent catalog.
A reproducible taxonomy reduced the work required to organize and maintain products.
The architecture provided a practical basis for future catalog additions and commerce changes.
04 / Technology
Technologies and deliverables from the historical project are shown as originally documented, including earlier-generation platforms where applicable.
The takeaway
The most valuable commerce feature was an information architecture that made a complex inventory manageable.
