For more than 30 years, the Cactus Cafe has been the soul of live acoustic music in Austin. A local gem in a sea of music tranquility, Cactus Cafe provides a unique, intimate experience that both artists and audiences are unlikely to find anywhere else. It’s a rare place that showcases music in the way that every true fan hopes to experience their favorite artist: live, up close, and personal. It’s a place where audiences can savor the music they love. But cactuscafe.org did not provide any information about the venue or give customers an indication of the awesomeness they were about to experience. And while Cactus Cafe’s word-of-mouth reputation has reached every corner of Austin, it lacked the ability to connect with artists and customers online.
Sound Check
Cactus Cafe wanted its website to establish its interactive presence while maintaining its street cred. With site design provided by Ampersand Agency, Pixeldust got to work building an easy-to-use website that would showcase artists, drive traffic to the venue and capture the Cactus identity online.
1, 2, 3
Built on a WordPress platform, cactuscafe.org now features a cohesive theme and gives users a new place to connect with their favorite artists. Users can find information about upcoming shows, purchase tickets, read about their favorite artists, interact with other Cactus Cafe-goers and stay plugged into their favorite artists online. Through their new content management system, Cactus Cafe can easily manage and update Cactus news and show information.
Ladies and Gentlemen
The goal of the new cactuscafe.org website was to increase user engagement and identify a beloved Austin institution online. The interactive experience Pixeldust created for the Cactus Cafe provides show-goers with the tools to define and share their diverse Cactus experiences online and ensures Cactus Cafe’s digital presence for many years down the road.
