How to create internal links between nodes with text?

In MediaWiki one can link from article X to article Y by just writing [[NAME OF ARTICLE Y]] in a webpage’s edit-page.

If an article with the same name exists, a blue link would appear in ouput, if not, a red link linking to a 404 or "This article is yet to have been written !!!" page, would appear in output instead.

  • I really need something like this in Drupal
  • I know that the core doesn’t have a way to do that
  • I also don’t want to install any contrib module for any similar functionality

I was thinking about trying to create my own module to do so but I am not a PHP programmer and don’t know how to try to do that and seek some guidance.
