Drupal has a very active community with tens of thousands of developers all around the world and they also have a huge focus on standard compliance and on security.

What’s known as plugin or addon in other platforms, is what we call a module in the Drupal universe. Drupal core itself is a a collection of modules as well and the community has added and maintains tens of thousands of individual modules on top of that.

. With the so called “LakeDropper” Richard Papp and Matthias Walti we additionally strengthen the Drupal expertise and allow an even broader foundation of high quality and long term service around Drupal.

Under the new name LakeDrops GmbH & Co. KG we focus even more intensively on Drupal as a platform. The solution portfolio around the already established portal framework will be continuously expanded. We already maintain and develop a large number of modules on Drupal.org. A visit to our company page there is worthwhile. Just have a look. 

We still love

A licensing model for software which keeps the source code open and accessible. However, there is much more to Open Source as it’s been used widely these days. The details of the software license depend on the specific Open Source license being used, e.g. a variety of GPL, MIT, Apache and others are available. Above and beyond that, Open Source invites developers to look at the code of others (open access), learn from the code of others, fork the code and develop their own branch, contribute back to the open source project of others and last but not least open and freely use and share the project by yourself or for others.

Drupal is one if not the largest Open Source software projects on the planet and as such a role model for what makes a successful Open Source project. It’s not that everyone is just doing what they want, instead tight planning and management, quality assurance coding standards, security teams and a whole lot more is involved to keep and push Drupal at the edge of high end web frameworks.

. In the future, we will make all our developments publicly available. In the next months, we plan to release more information about our portal framework. You can be very curious about many interesting components. We will of course keep you informed.

LakeDrops exists since 2011 as a

Freelancers are individuals who provide services to companies/customers without being employed by their clients or any agencies in between. Most freelancers do have their own company simply because that’s required to do business in most countries. There are pros and cons for both the freelancer and the customer, we don’t go into detail here. However, LakeDroppers are freelancers and they provide services like entrepreneurs. As teams we’ve developed our workflows and toolsets. We continue to adjust and improve them permanently. For LakeDrops customers this means access to larger teams without the overhead of many different agencies.

KG. In January 2022, bitegra Solutions was transferred to LakeDrops and is now strengthened by Richard Papp and Matthias Walti.

Harald Geisser, previously on the management board of bitegra Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, left the company in January 2022.
