When using Media module can the Media assets be limited per user or group instead of shared to all?

We are diving into using the Media module for managing files and would like to limit the files available to a person in the Media Library to:

  1. Only files that they have uploaded (do not show files from other users)

  2. And/or also allow group sharing. For example, a user can see all of the Media files (that they uploaded) and some admin users can also see all "admin" Media files (perhaps media files by role?)
