Who are you?
I am a messenger. My last name is Outlander because I feel like I don't belong or fit in. I never really knew my place in things. Outlander is another name for outcast and there's millions of people who've felt that way in the past, there's millions of people who feel that way right now, and there'll be millions of people who feel that way long after I'm gone. I lived a tragic life filled with betrayal, heartbreak, and people failing me and putting me down. There's broken children that are in adult bodies all over the planet that can relate to that. I'm here to show those Outlanders that they can do whatever they put their minds to if they believe in themselves and dig their own way out of the hole. No one cares and nothing is coming to save you so you need to be able to build yourself up so you can be your own savior. I want my journey to be an example of that and I want my music to be a place of comfort and speak to those who are broken so that they know that they're not alone and that many people can relate to their pain.
Where are you from?
I'm from a small but growing community in Illinois called Champaign-Urbana. It's technically two different places but they're a street away from each other so we all count it as one and call it "The C-U." There's a growing music scene here but no one's really been able to push through. Because this place is so small, there's not many opportunities for artists to do things like perform or seek out a manager or have a certain space for photoshoots and video shoots. Most of the gigs here go down at the Canopy Club. Everything here is pretty much DIY so it puts artists who may not be creative or have a lot of money at a disadvantage. We do what we can though because we have our own stories to tell. There's a lot of pain within the community and it's important to express ourselves.
