How do I create multilingual user path aliases?

I’m setting up a multilingual site, and I want need user path aliases to be multilingual.

Example:

  • Username: Admin
  • Pathauto Pattern: /users/[user:name]

Expected:

  • English path: /en/users/admin
  • Main Language: /users/admin

Current:

  • English path: /en/user/1
  • Main language: /users/admin

I have tried enabling user accounts to be multilingual, both with the URL alias field translatable and not translatable, but I cannot find any combination that will create the same path alias for both languages on a multilingual site.
